Curriculum Vitae: Your resume or curriculum vitae may be up to 4 pages in length and should include: Education Work experience Research experience Teaching experience Professional affiliations Volunteer activity and community engagement Honors and awards Publications Personal Statement: The statement of purpose should be a concise, well-written statement about your academic and research background, your career goals, and how Michigan’s graduate program will help you meet your career and educational objectives. Recommendation Letter: Three letters of recommendation from undergraduate teachers or others in a position to evaluate the applicants- potential for graduate study. Electronic letters should be submitted with the on-line application. Instructions for submitting letters are included in the application link above. Personal Statement: Your personal statement should indicate how your background and life experiences, including cultural, geographical, financial, educational or other opportunities or challenges, motivated your decision to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Michigan. There is a 500 word limit.
